The Foundation sponsors several fundraisers throughout the school year, including our signature event – Dancing with the Cherry Hill Stars. But even our most successful fundraising efforts fall short of generating the grant funds we need to support a school district as large and diverse as the Cherry Hill Public Schools.
Consider these facts:
The district serves nearly 11,000 students in Grades PreK through 12, making it the 11th largest
district in the state and one of the largest suburban districts.
The district serves an increasingly ethnically diverse population: White, 56%; Asian, 18%; Hispanic, 13%; African American, 8%; Two or More Races, 5%.
The district serves a culturally diverse population with about 70 native languages spoken by students. More than 2,450 students are bilingual and 416 students are English Language Learners (ELL).
The district serves a socioeconomically diverse population—about 18% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
The district serves a student population with diverse needs—19% of students are eligible for special education services (including speech-only services).
Since 2007, the Cherry Hill Education Foundation has played a critical role in helping to fund educational initiatives that simply can’t be accommodated by the typical school budget. Foundation grants support creative and innovative activities in specific classrooms as well as school- and district-wide initiatives.
