Show to Honor East/West Grads Serving in Military and Local Veterans
Tickets are on sale now for the 2018 edition of Dancing with the Cherry Hill Stars, which will be held on Sunday, May 6, at 7 pm, in the auditorium at Cherry Hill High School West.
The event is presented by the Cherry Hill Education Foundation, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to support innovative educational initiatives for students in the Cherry Hill Public Schools. Now in its 11th year, the show is the Foundation’s signature fundraising event.
In keeping with the patriotic theme of the 2018 show, the Foundation will be honoring local Armed Services veterans, as well as East and West graduates from the past nine years who are currently serving in the military. The Foundation has also invited two Gold Star Families. The West Air Force JROTC will be presenting the colors at the start of the show and will serve as ushers for the evening.

The couple with the highest fundraising total will win the coveted first place trophy. Supporters can vote online prior to the show (click HERE) or in person at the event. One dollar equals one vote. In addition, a panel of judges will present awards for Best Overall Performance, Best Technical Performance, and Most Creative Performance.
Tickets can be purchased in advance HERE and picked up at the Box Office the evening of the show. Tickets are $25 each ($15 for students and senior citizens 55 and over). All seats are reserved.
The show will be directed once again by Drew Molotsky. A Cherry Hill West graduate, family law attorney, and partner with Adinolfi and Packman in Haddonfield, Mr. Molotsky is the founder and former owner of Triple Threat Performing Arts Center. He is returning for his 11th year as director and brings Broadway-caliber production values to the Cherry Hill West stage. Mr. Molotsky has more than 25 years of experience directing musicals and plays, most recently Hairspray and Shrek for the Broadway Theater of Pitman.
The show will feature live music from the Cherry Hill East Jazz Band and Symphony Orchestra Strings, under the direction of Tim Keleher.
Serving as Master of Ceremonies for the 2018 show will be Greg Gagliardi, an English and journalism teacher at Cherry Hill East. An experienced stand-up comedian, Mr. Gagliardi brings a special brand of humor to his emceeing duties. He danced in the first show in 2008 and has emceed every show since then.
Since late 2007, the Foundation has raised more than $1,200,000 in grant funding and donations to support educational programming throughout the Cherry Hill School District. Grant requests are submitted each year by teachers and administrators. Funded grants have ranged from Smart boards, iPads, Chromebooks, and other technology requests to books for classroom and school libraries to climbing walls and outdoor playground equipment.
The Foundation has supported more than 360 grant requests and also provides annual support for the district’s Academic Recognition Banquet, Project Graduation, and Freshmen Orientation events. In addition, CHEF solicits funding support from area businesses and foundations for programs such as the Mt. Misery environmental education program for the district’s 6th graders, the 3rd grade dictionary project (conducted in partnership with the Cherry Hill Rotary Foundation), and more.
